Louis XVI Carved, Lacquered and Gilded Wood Trumeau Mirror, 19th Century

  

Grand Louis XVI style carved and lacquered wooden trumeau. Rich carved wood ornamentation (not stucco) in a ribbon of acanthus leaves around the mirror, acanthus palmettes above, and a pearl medallion with a Louis XVI bow in the pediment. The background is lacquered in gray Trianon, and the originally gilded gildings have been repainted long ago in golden varnish. Inside the medallion, a piece of Louis XVI wallpaper printed on the board (folds and stains).

This trumeau is in a house condition, with cracks in the upper part and a gap in the wood around the medallion. Very lightly tarnished antique mirror.
