Large Bas-relief Flowered Majolica Vase, Edouard Gilles, 19th Century

  

Large vase in slipware with very raised flowers. Against a gradient background from white to black, a bouquet of flowers blooms. The highly textured flowers appear lifelike. This slipware technique was very complex to execute, which is why it is rarely found.

The roses are fully open and fleshy. There are some chips in the petals that have been restored with color. This vase is mounted on a gilded bronze base. It is impossible to detach the base, but we believe it to be the work of Edouard Gilles. Delivery costs 30 euros in France, 80 euros in the EU, and 150 euros for the rest of the world.
