The sculpture is entirely made of bronze in three parts. The bronze is treated with matte and glossy tones which give beautiful reflections changing according to the light. The whole rests on a base of green sea marble decorated with a floral basket flanked by a vine leaf garland. Thomire and Duterme joined forces in 1804 by taking over the Daguerre and Lignereux company. Under the name Thomire, Duterme et Cie, they became the largest providers of gilded bronze, employing up to seven hundred workers.
Thomire then experienced significant growth. He was the first bronzier to participate in the Exhibition of Industrial Products in 1806, during which he received a gold medal. The threaded stem has been changed, there are some chips on the marble. The whole has been restored by a bronze craftsman, a master craftsman of France.
