ECRITOIRE / INKWELL in Gilded Bronze from the Empire Period. Superb and rare gilded bronze writing set from the Empire period, featuring at the center the bust of Voltaire serving as a seal. The finely chiseled and gilded seal rests on a cylindrical base adorned with a frieze of rays, a row of pearls, and a laurel wreath.

The writing tray offers two cup holders shaped like a stack of books, one for the porcelain inkwell and the other for the bronze powder holder. The hinged lids are finely chiseled with designs of a torch, sword, and laurel crown. Base resting on four small ball feet. An exceptional piece from the early 19th century Empire period. This inkwell is complete, all original and in excellent condition, with minimal signs of use and age.
