Clock with Angel and the Arts, Gilded Bronze, Restoration Period, 19th Century
Superb gilded bronze clock from the Restoration period. Of obelisk shape, it is adorned with a thick frieze of acanthus leaves at the bottom and very simple curved feet. The case is straight with a striped effect from the bronze. The pediment is richly crafted with a cherub crouching in the middle of an allegory of the arts. Indeed, it holds a sheet of paper in one hand, with a lyre beside it, and at its feet are books and musical instruments on the ground along with a sword. The movement works perfectly, chiming the hours and half-hours. Delivery costs 30 euros in France, 80 euros in the EU, and 150 euros for the rest of the world.
