Empire Period Early 19th Century Gilt Bronze and White Marble Cherub Lamp.

Charming finely chased gilt bronze sculpture, mounted as a lamp. Depicting a lightly draped Cupid holding a cornucopia in one hand and a dove in the other. He is shown standing on a flowered terrace, mounted on a fluted white marble column decorated with palmettes.



The whole rests on a circular base bordered with beadwork and a very finely chased cavetto with a stylized vegetal frieze on a matte ground, raised on a hexagonal gadrooned counter-base decorated with flowers and resting on six small feet with acanthus leaf scrolls.

This is an antique candlestick that has been converted into a lamp. The electrical system is in working order. This sculpture is in excellent condition, with its original gilding still fresh and only very light signs of use. Total height without bulb: 33 cm.
