Edouard de Beaumont (less known than Gavarni but just as brilliant in his lines). French painter, lithographer, and illustrator. In 1842, following the expedition of Admiral Abel Aubert du Petit Thouars, the Marquesas Islands had just become a French Possession. On this occasion, E de Beaumont drew 22 caricatures dedicated to "Civilization in the Marquesas Islands", published in CHARIVARI in 1843, in which he transposes Parisian customs to the Antipodes. 9 published in 1843 in the newspaper LE CHARIVARI first and then in its luxury version printed on white, watercolored and gummed for some proofs. Ideal for interior decoration of a house, office, library, living room, bedroom, etc. See in our shop our other vintage lithographs by the same artist, as well as by Cham, Gavarni, Daumier, Platier, de Beaumont, Pruche, etc. Shipped flat in strong cardboard.
