The subjects include mammals, birds, reptiles, and scenes of landscapes or architecture, engraved with precision and finesse. Each engraving is carefully mounted in a flap folder measuring 30 x 21 cm, with the size of the plates being approximately 24 x 15.5 cm. The representations are all in black and white, with significant decorative and educational strength. Among the illustrated animals: Ganges gavial, zebra, hippopotamus, elephant, ostrich, bison, lemur, mouflon, leopard, various monkeys, wild cats, aquatic animals, deer, antelopes, etc. Some plates also feature architectural or landscape scenes from the 19th century.
