Jean-Joseph Thorelle Virgin and Child, 19th century

  
Jean-Joseph Thorelle, born in Hennecourt (Vosges) and died in Nancy, was a French painter and engraver, known for genre paintings and delicate pen drawings. Jean-Joseph Thorelle was a drawing teacher at the Collège de la Malgrange in Jarville. Several of his works are preserved at the Musée Lorrain in Nancy and at the Charles de Bruyère Museum in Remiremont. Height: frame: 52 cm by 41 cm.

Canvas: 49.5 cm by 29.5 cm. It is a beautiful painting, but it does require some cleaning of the canvas, which has yellowed considerably, and restoration at the base.
