This work from the 19th century is part of the romantic and nationalist movement that valued the heroic figures of French history. The rider is finely detailed with characteristic scale armor, a breastplate adorned with relief patterns, and a short pleated tunic. His curly hair and carefully styled beard give him a noble and martial appearance. He holds in his right hand a sword with a gilded handle, symbolizing his status as a war chief. The horse, captured in a dynamic movement, rears slightly with its front legs raised.

Its powerful musculature and flowing mane testify to the sculptor's craftsmanship. The bridle is also highlighted with gilding, creating an elegant contrast with the brown patina of the regulus. The naturalistic base, particularly well-crafted, evokes a rugged terrain with rocks, tree stumps, and relief vegetation (ferns, plants), adding a narrative dimension to the scene.
