Red half-maroquin, red wax paper dishes imitating the maroquin, frame consisting of nets and a roulette, smooth adorned back, golden title, linings and guards of waxed blue paper, jaspered yellow slices (reliation of the time). Light friction at the lower corners, small defects at the bottom of the guard papers, without gravity; t. 213-216: restoration of paper at the upper corner without damage to the text. "fourth revised, corrected and increased edition" published in the year of original.

Text preceded by a preface of the editor. One of the first novels of the Viscount d'arlincourt. Known to contain the most frantic stories, these first publications, among which are also the renegat, ipsiboe or ismalia, are the most sought after of this author.

They are also famous for the language inaccuracies they contain. The book is illustrated by two frontispieces lithographed by hunting charles.
