Animal scene oil on panel by Louis Eugène Lambert signed at the bottom left, 19th century, frame dimensions 34 cm by 28 cm and panel 21 cm by 16 cm, representing a peasant woman surrounded by her child and animals arranging their belongings in a chest. Louis Eugène Lambert was a student of Eugène Delacroix who financed his works and Paul Delaroche, specializing in the representation of cats and dogs.

He debuted at the salon in 1847 and took on the nickname "Lambert of the cats" or "Raphael of the cats". His paintings were a great commercial success.
